Blessed is our God, now and ever unto ages of ages!
God has blessed the founding of our new men's Orthodox Christian Monastery, under the protection of St. Demetrios and the direction of Metropolitan Jonah, as our monastic brotherhood found a home in Spotsylvania, VA, beginning of October 2020, when we closed on a house after a successful fund drive, and are in the process of unpacking and trying to figure out where to put things.
Already, we are experiencing significant growth, with the brotherhood expanding through the tonsuring of a Raspophore Hierodeacon, a Small Schema Hierodeacon, and several young men having indicated a interest in joining the community while working outside the monastery to help pay the mortgage and living expenses. Already near capacity, we are creating rooms in the basement for monastic cells, and, if necessary, with younger novices sharing rooms.
The Library is expanding also to house the archives of the blessed Bishop Basil (Radzianko).
Our liturgical life is taking shape and, in addition to our community prayers, we attend regularly at St Herman of Alaska Church, in nearby Stafford, Va.
These are good problems to have!
We are working to develop a full daily cycle of services, with frequent Liturgies, and to plan and develop our monastery industries.
We are grateful to all who have furthered our development, and invite you to join with our supporters through both your prayers and through your financial generocity!
